We then moved on to Chelsea Clinton's brainchild She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World and, though the illustrations were not the stunners of the previous book, they were lovely. The book held both of my daughters' interest for about 50% of the time. I started this girl power journey with Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Tales of Extraordinary Women and was positively blown away with the original art work (as were my two daughters), but the collection included so many unknown women and omitted so many more obvious choices, I was left scratching my head in confusion. This is my third illustrated girl power read in less than a year, and, even though I'm giving it four stars, I'd also like to have a little moment to bitch. The leaders in this book may be little, but they all did something big and amazing, inspiring generations to come. Whether they were putting pen to paper, soaring through the air or speaking up for the rights of others, the women profiled in these pages were all taking a stand against a world that didn't always accept them. Among these biographies, readers will find heroes, role models, and everyday women who did extraordinary things - bold women whose actions and beliefs contributed to making the world better for generations of girls and women to come.
